Children's Book on Writing Releases on March 15th 2020
Winuply Press is proud to announce the release of our second book in 2020. Write Now: Ideas for Writers is a writing book for children. Written by Holly Winter Huppert, a kindergarten teacher in Kingston, NY, the book encompasses Huppert's 30 years of teaching writing to children.
"When you are the writer," Huppert writes, "You are the boss."
Huppert explains: "So often children write as a servant to the teacher. They just want to write what the teacher wants so they can get a grade and move on. In my years in classrooms ranging from pre-K through high school, I find that children are afraid to pen their own ideas. This book addresses this imbalance by suggesting topics to write about that are as far flung as the wildest ideas students can dream up."
Write Now: Ideas for Writers is 38 pages and includes many color photographs to engage the writer. Though the photos in the book are of young children, the book never states that it is geared towards children writers. Huppert explains, "Children don't like to be reminded that they are young and inexperienced. I thought it was important to tailor the book for children without mentioning that it is a child's book."
