Teacher Writes a Coronavirus/COVID-19 Book for Children.

Holly Winter Huppert, the author of the forthcoming book, "Hans Helps: A Coronavirus/COVID-19 Story," writes the books she needs to teach children. She states, "Years ago I wrote and sold curriculum ideas to publishers to make extra money to buy books for my classroom. Over time it was easier to write the books I needed and give up the boring curriculum writing gigs."

Earlier this year Huppert wrote "Write Now: Ideas for Writers" which is a children's book of writing prompts. When asked how "Write Now" became a bestseller for readers around the world, the author stated, "Clearly I wasn't the only one searching for a fun writing book for kids, but I may have been the first one to marry both fiction and nonfiction writing prompts with photos."

This year marks the author's 30th year teaching children from pre-K through 12th grade. She states that children of all ages want fun books to read.

When asked how "Hans Helps" will help children, she said, "The story is about a young boy who has fun, tells jokes and learns to accept that he has to wash his hands again and again. After a while he decides that by following the "Healthy 7" habits, he will help protect his family."

She went on to explain that by empowering children to help stop the spread of the virus, you make children a part of the solution.

Though the book is a work of fiction, the author does have a great-nephew who spent a day with her; this book is based on that day. The photos in the book are of Hans, his real name, as he learned how to feel good, “Like a superhero.” about helping to stop the spread of the virus.

In a time when the entire world is struggling to stay healthy, Hans Helps: A Coronavirus/COVID-19 Story, empowers children to help their extended family stay healthy during the coronavirus pandemic and long after it’s over.

50% of all proceeds will go to community organizations that support families living below the poverty line such as People's Place and The Hodge which are both in Kingston, NY.
